TERRAGEL DRILLING POLYMER
Terragel Drilling Polymer is a water-dispersible synthetic polymer formulation. It is an effective water thickener and soil stabilizer. The product is supplied as free-flowing fine white granules.
Terragel Drilling Polymer is used as a primary viscosifier and soil stabilizer in foundation drilling, diaphragm wall excavation, directional drilling and other industrial drilling applications. Terragel is also a powerful clay swelling inhibitor. Terragel can be used alone to make an efficient single-ingredient drilling / excavating fluid.
Normal dosage range of Terragel Drilling Polymer is 5 to 12 pounds per 1,000 gallons (0.6 to 1.5 kilos per 1 cubic meter). Dosage is selected depending on soil type, water quality and other factors. Cohesive soils (clay or silt) generally require lower dosage and viscosity than granular soils (sand or gravel). Net specific consumption of Terragel (with recycling) will normally range between about 0.5 and 1.2 pounds per cubic yard of excavation (0.3 and 0.7 kilos per 1 cubic meter). This range of consumption is useful for estimating.
Terragel can be mixed directly in the mouth of foundation holes or guide wall trenches by sprinkling on a fast-moving stream of water, although pre-mixing in an agitated tank is recommended.
